Approved Pets

Pets are permitted only at properties specifically advertised as pet-friendly and only when approved before arrival.

The number, type, size, and other requirements for pets may vary by property. Guests must review the individual property listing and disclose each pet when making the reservation.

A pet is not approved unless it appears in the confirmed reservation or written approval has been provided by Surfside Life Stays.

Pet-friendly does not mean unrestricted. Each homeowner may establish property-specific pet limits and requirements.

Pet Fees

Pet fees vary by property and will be disclosed in the property listing or during the reservation process.

The standard pet fee covers the additional preparation and cleaning associated with an approved pet. It does not cover damage, excessive cleaning, odor remediation, flea treatment, or other pet-related losses.

Additional charges may apply when the number of pets, length of stay, or condition of the property exceeds the terms of the confirmed reservation.

Accurate Pet Information

Guests must provide accurate information about every pet included in the stay.

Surfside Life Stays may request information such as the pet's type, age, approximate weight, or other details needed to confirm eligibility for a particular property.

Providing incomplete or inaccurate pet information may result in additional charges, cancellation, or termination of the stay where permitted by the reservation terms.

Supervision & Confinement

Pets must be under the control of a responsible adult throughout the stay.

Pets may not be left outdoors unattended, tethered to structures, confined on decks or porches, or permitted to roam the property or community.

When a pet is left alone inside the home, it must be safely confined when necessary to prevent damage, distress, excessive barking, escape, or interference with maintenance personnel.

Guests should not leave a pet unattended for extended periods. Surfside Life Stays does not provide pet sitting, walking, feeding, or animal-care services.

Leashes & Community Rules

Pets must be leashed whenever they are outside the rental home unless they are within a securely enclosed private area where off-leash use is expressly permitted.

Guests must follow all community, resort, beach, park, and local rules regarding animals, leashes, restricted areas, and permitted hours.

Community rules may be more restrictive than this general Pet Policy and must be followed at all times.

Yards, Decks & Outdoor Areas

Fences, gates, railings, screens, and outdoor enclosures are not guaranteed to contain every pet.

Guests are responsible for evaluating outdoor areas and keeping pets safely secured.

Pets may not dig, damage landscaping, enter neighboring property, disturb wildlife, or create a nuisance within the community.

Furniture, Beds & Property Care

Guests are responsible for preventing pet-related damage and excessive wear throughout the stay.

  • Pets should not be permitted on beds, bedding, upholstered furniture, or other surfaces unless the property's instructions expressly allow it.
  • Guest towels, sheets, blankets, and household linens may not be used for pet bedding, bathing, grooming, or cleanup.
  • Pets must be dried and cleaned before entering the home after visiting the beach, walking in rain, or playing outdoors.
  • Sand, mud, hair, food, water, and other pet-related debris should be cleaned promptly.
  • Guests should protect floors, doors, screens, furniture, and landscaping from scratching, chewing, digging, staining, and other damage.

Pet owners are responsible for damage, stains, odors, excessive hair, pest treatment, missing items, and additional cleaning caused by an animal during the reservation.

Pet Waste & Cleanup

Guests must immediately collect and properly dispose of pet waste from yards, walkways, common areas, parks, beaches, and community spaces.

Bagged pet waste must be placed in the designated outdoor trash container and may not be left on decks, porches, walkways, beside trash cans, or inside the home.

Additional cleanup charges may apply when pet waste is left at the property or within surrounding community areas.

Barking & Disturbances

Pets may not create excessive barking, whining, scratching, aggressive behavior, or other disturbances.

Guests must respond promptly when notified of a pet-related noise complaint or community concern.

Repeated disturbances may require the guest to remove the pet from the property or may result in other action allowed under the reservation terms.

Behavior & Safety

Guests may not bring an animal that is aggressive, dangerous, destructive, poorly controlled, or likely to threaten people, other animals, or property.

Pets must remain safely separated from vendors, housekeepers, inspectors, maintenance personnel, and other authorized visitors entering the property.

Guests are responsible for injuries, bites, property damage, veterinary incidents, and other losses caused by their animals.

Wildlife & Water Safety

Coastal properties may be located near ponds, canals, marshes, creeks, wooded areas, or other natural habitats.

These areas may contain alligators, snakes, insects, and other wildlife.

  • Keep pets away from pond banks, canals, marshes, and undesignated water areas.
  • Never allow a pet to approach, chase, bark at, or interact with wildlife.
  • Do not leave pet food or water outdoors where it may attract wildlife or pests.
  • Keep pets leashed and closely supervised, especially after dark.

Never feed wildlife. Feeding wildlife is dangerous and may cause animals to lose their natural fear of people and pets.

Health, Fleas & Parasites

Pets should be healthy, house-trained, and free from fleas and other contagious pests or conditions before arrival.

Guests are responsible for flea treatment, pest remediation, cleaning, or loss of use resulting from an animal brought into the property.

Surfside Life Stays does not assume responsibility for illness, injury, exposure to wildlife, parasites, escape, or other risks involving a guest's pet.

Unauthorized Pets

A pet is unauthorized when it has not been disclosed and approved, exceeds the property's approved pet limit, does not meet property-specific requirements, or is brought into a pet-free home.

Evidence of an unauthorized pet may result in:

  • Additional pet charges;
  • Enhanced cleaning and deodorizing charges;
  • Flea or pest-treatment costs;
  • Repair or replacement charges;
  • Community fines or penalties;
  • Required removal of the animal; or
  • Termination of the reservation where permitted by the Rental Agreement and applicable law.

Payment of an unauthorized-pet charge does not convert a pet-free home into a pet-friendly property or guarantee that the animal may remain.

Service & Assistance Animals

Requests involving service animals or other assistance animals will be handled in accordance with applicable law and the requirements of the booking platform used for the reservation.

Guests should notify Surfside Life Stays before arrival so any permitted documentation, property preparation, and communication can be handled appropriately.

Service and assistance animals remain subject to reasonable rules concerning supervision, control, waste disposal, property damage, safety, and disturbance.

Guests are responsible for damage or excessive cleaning caused by an animal, even when no standard pet fee applies.

Acceptance of the Pet Policy

By bringing an approved pet to a Surfside Life Stays property, the responsible guest acknowledges and agrees to this Pet Policy, the House Rules, the property's individual requirements, applicable community rules, and the confirmed reservation terms.

The responsible guest is accountable for the conduct of each pet and for all pet-related damage, cleaning, fees, fines, injuries, or losses arising during the reservation.

Before booking: Confirm that the home is designated as pet-friendly and that every pet has been properly included in the reservation.
